The Region / Tamar Valley Touring
The majestic Tamar River meanders for 58 kilometres through the heart of high-yielding vineyard country, orchards, scenic pastures and forests from Launceston to the sea.
Discover the many quaint riverside villages that feature arts and crafts from the local area. Picnic beneath the elegant Batman Bridge - the world's first cable stayed truss bridge built in the 1960's - or simply just relax at one of the restaurants and indulge your senses in the local food and wine.
Along the riverbanks are conveniently located shore-access pontoons, ideal for casting in a fishing line. The river has a variety of saltwater fish or you can try the nearby inland streams and lakes which offer challenges for freshwater fishing.
Relax and enjoy the pristine white sand on the Bass Strait beaches at Badger Head, Greens Beach, Low Head and Kelso.
Explore the Tamar Valley Touring Route - it will be an unforgettable experience!
